Mason is 4 months!

On July 28th, our little man turned 4 months old. He had his appointment on the 29th. He was 24 1/2 inches long and 13.6 lbs. Gettin big! Unfortunately, he also got his 4 month vaccines :(. That was on a wednesday. On thursday, the poor kid was miserable! He was cranky and sore and had fever, chills, dirrhea and he threw up once. All he did was sleep in my arms the entire day and occasionally moaned and pouted. It broke my heart! Friday, he woke up and seemed to be feeling fine, unfortunately, the diarrhea was still around.... and it stayed around.. until the following wednesday! UGH! I cant tell you how many clothes changes both he and I had and how many sets of sheets i changed.. and OH YEA he pooped on the couch too! It was a terrible week. Poor little guy! On that sunday after shots, he developed a rash/hives. I looked up reactions from vaccines, and all his symptoms matched with the possible reactions from the Hib vaccine, so I was convinced that's what it was from. The only reaction he didnt have was convulsions, prolonged crying and Guillain Barre syndrome (sp?) whatever that is. I called the doctor, but they INSIST he must have picked up some kind of virus. They wouldnt even hear me out when I brought up that I thought it could be a reaction to the vaccine. They said the vaccine wouldnt cause diarrhea, but according to the National Vaccine Information Center website, it certainly can! Maybe it was a virus, I dont know, but I'm about fed up with the doctors around here. grr

Anyway.. as of wednesday, he's been diarrhea-free (Thank God), but now he's CRANKY and doesnt want to take naps anymore. He fights sleep like crazy. I guess he thinks he's just a big boy now.. being 4 months and all. I always win the battle and get him to sleep.. but it takes a lot of work these days. mommy needs a margarita :)

He has an appointment in Fairfax on Tuesday with a GI specialist. They just want to make sure everything is working like it should, since he had so many problems when he was first born. I'm pretty sure he's fine now. I'm more worried about fighting the traffic to get there on time. haha I'm expecting to hear good news, so if I get anything but that, i'll be shocked and upset!

anyway.. onto some pictures since it's been awhile!

get me outta here!

Last weekend we went to visit Mick's sister and her hubs of course our neice and nephew. It was the last time we'll see them for a long time. They are getting stationed in Hawaii! (LUCKY THEM!) It's exciting, but sad at the same time. The cousins will be so far apart, that they wont get to play with each other much. Same with my side of the family. That's one of the downfalls of military life, but it's our life, so all we can do is make the most of the time we do get together. Here are some pics from our visit and later that night when we got home.
